What do you do with your scraps that are left over from cooking? What if I told you to save them in your freezer and make the easiest and most delicious broth? I’m so passionate about not throwing any food away, that I save all my scraps in a Ziploc bag in the freezer. Whenever I need it, I just dump it all in the slow cooker, add some seasoning, and let it cook on low overnight.

Personally, I really love to enjoy a cup of broth in the morning (sooooo good!). But you can use it for all your cooking (think soups, rice, sauces, etc.).

Bone broth is nutrient-dense, supports gut health, joint health, and hydration, while also providing anti-inflammatory benefits and essential minerals like collagen, protein, and electrolytes.

Ingredients

  • 2,5 liter Ziploc bag of scraps (onion skins, bell pepper cores, chicken bones- especially from roasted chicken, carrot ends, etc.- really anything you have)
  • 4 liters water
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 5 pepper corns
  • 4 all spice berries
  • 2 bay leaves

Directions

  1. Add all the scraps to your slow cooker.
  2. Fill with water to the top.
  3. Cook on low for 8- 12 hours.
  4. Strain and transfer into jars or bottles for storing. (Will keep for up to a month in the fridge, or you can freeze for longer storing).
